Vintage Boy Scouts Bowie Knife with Original Leather Sheath circa 1960
Here on offer is an excellent example of a vintage Boy Scouts bowie knife with original leather sheath, circa 1960.
The pommel is made from polished aluminium and is held in place by a recessed brass nut.
The grip is made up of a beautiful centre section of real stag horn, “top and tailed” with stacked leather pieces and coloured plastic and brass spaces.
The finger guard is made from polished brass and fits tightly to the beautiful polished clip point Bowie blade.
There is no maker or other details on this knife, but I think it’s a vintage Sheffield made piece?
The blade is in great condition with just some light pitting and scratches on the surface. There is a slight rounding to the tip of the bald.
The knife fits snuggly into its original easy access brown leather stitched and riveted sheath that has a large belt loop at the top. It still retains its original snap fastener that still works.
Even though large numbers of these knifes where made it is rare to come across one in such excellent condition, a real collector’s piece.
The blade measures 5” (12.7cm) and the knife itself 9” (23cm) long.
It weighs 200g.
