Near Mint ERII Royal Navy Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson Sword with Scabbard and Dress Knot c1979

Here on offer is a near mint ERII Royal Navy Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson Sword with scabbard and dress knot, circa 1979 that is in parade ground condition.

The beautiful 30.5” single edged fullered blade has detailed etching on both sides and displays the “ERII” cypher along with oak leaf and anchor decoration and the famous Wilkinson Sword maker’s Royal appointment crest. The blade is in excellent condition with just some minimal greying/surface pitting that would polish out.

On the top edge it is stamped with a serial number 110115, which from the Wilkinson Sword date records, indicates it was made around 1979.

The beautiful anchor detailed gilt brass hilt guard and lion’s mask pommel retain nearly all of the original gilt finish, with just some minimal loss to the edges and raised detailing.
The white fish skin grip is perfect, just slightly grubby, but that would easily clean off. All the grip wire is in place.

The folding guard section works perfectly and locates properly onto the top scabbard locket’s retaining pin as it should.

The gilt brass mounted leather scabbard is also in excellent condition, with minimal loss to the gilt.

It is fitted with a perfect black and gold dress knot and the sword sheathes and draws very well.

I believe these swords can still be used by serving British, Australian, Canadian or New Zealand naval officers as well as making a great addition to a discerning collector that only buys the best.

With Wilkinson Sword now out of business yet so rightfully revered, this is a wonderful opportunity to give a newly commissioned officer something very special and yet sadly no longer available to buy from new. There is no officer’s name to the blade or folding guard.

The etched steel blade measures 30.5” (77.5cm) long and the whole sword (blade in scabbard) measures 39” (99cm).

It weighs a heavy 1.1Kg.
