Original Unissued RAF Floating Knife and Can Opener by Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield

Here on offer is a near mint example of an unissued RAF floating knife with can opener and flat screwdriver that is still in its original outer clear plastic package with the NATO Stock Number (NSN) barcode, circa 1970.

The NSN is 4220-99-425-9731.

I believe this is part of the RAF issue dinghy kit for use when ditching in the sea.

The knife and sheath are attached to a bright orange patch that can be attached to the relevant piece of equipment, i.e. a dinghy.

The snap strap at the top doesn't seem to fasten correctly, but this is how it was made?

The stainless steel blade has the maker’s name:

JOSEPH RODGERS

SHEFFIELD ENGLAND

and their maker’s marks, along with a patent no. 904434.

The blade measures 2.75” (7cm) long and the knife is 6.2” (15.5cm).

It weighs in the holder 95g
