WW2 RAF Comforts Committee Volunteer Worker Badge
Here on offer is a fine example of a small WW2 period “RAF Comforts Committee Volunteer Worker” home front badge.
During wartime the RAF Comforts Committee Voluntary Worker's contributed to the war effort by knitting woollen garments such as socks, jumpers and scarves etc for the Royal Air Force.
The badge consists of a chromium plated title circlet inlaid with blue enamel, bearing a Royal Air Force eagle to voided centre.
Below is a ribbon with the words, 'Voluntary Worker'.
The reverse is impressed with maker's details:
Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St, Birmingham.
It is excellent original condition, complete with original pin fittings.
The brooch measures 1” (2.3cm) high and weighs 4g.
