Original German Felt Dagger Bag for a WKC Officers Dagger
Here on offer is an unusual and what I now believe is an original WW2 German felt dagger bag for a WKC Officers dagger.
I have had this dagger bag for over 40 years, when it came to me, folded in half, as part of a WW2 veteran’s collection.
I have never seen another such bag, until I noticed that "Johnson Reference Books & Militaria" had exactly the same type for sale on their web site, item (30876).
They had it on offer as an “Ultra RARE” dagger bag, for $595 (£470) and it is now shown as sold!
I am no expert and use Johnson’s dagger books for reference all the time, so if they say it’s a rare original, who am I to argue!
The bag itself has the WKC Knight’s head logo printed on the front with the words:
OFFIZIER DOLCH (Officer Dagger)
SCHUTZMARKE (Trademark)
The felt dagger bag is in excellent condition with just a crease line where it has been folded in half whist stored away.
All the stitching is in place and secure and it looks to me, to have never been used!
The tip has been made/reinforced with some form of leatherette material to ensure the dagger doesn’t wear a hole in the felt with the tip of its scabbard.
Johnson’s claims it’s an “extremely rare original Solingen item”, which actually is still usable, but personally I would use it as a display item to enhance a collection of daggers, especially those made by WKC.
It measures 18.25” (46.4cm) long with the flap closed and is 5” (12.8cm) wide across the top.
It weighs 30g.
