Vintage Deer’s Foot Boot Knife Complete with Original Leather Sheath

Here on offer is a great example of a vintage deer’s foot boot knife complete with its original leather sheath.

The grip is made from a deer’s foot/hoof that retains all its fur.

A tapered ribbed polished nickel ferrule connects the hoof to the blade.

The beautiful single edged blade is in excellent condition and still shows the original cross-graining.

There is no maker’s mark on the blade, but it is stamped with:

ROSTFRE
SOLINGEN

The brown leather sheath has upper and lower ribbed nickel mounts which just show some aged patina.

From the look and feel of this knife, I think it was probably made back in the 1930’s as a souvenir piece, but there are photos of WW2 German soldiers using these as “boot knives” during that conflict.

The blade measures 3.5” (9cm) long and the knife is 9.75” (24.7cm) in total length.


It weighs 95g.
