Vintage Bronze Limited Edition Commemorative Medallion - Coronel Frederico E. de Avellar Telles - Portuguese Military 1981
Here on offer a large bronze limited-edition (817 of 900) commemorative medallion that dates to 1981 and relates to a Coronel Frederico E. de Avellar Telles, who served in the Portuguese Military.
The obverse shows a finely detailed raised image of the coronel in military dress, along with the designer/artists name, Cabral Antunes.
The wording around the edge translates as:
Coronel Frederico E. de Avellar Telles.
First Director Originally From S.A.M. 1910-1911.
On the reverse is shows six different military emblems, each with a date below, spanning 100 years from 1848 to 1948.
The wording around the edge translates as:
Commemorating Military Administration Service Day. Evora July 4, 1981.
There is also the limited-edition number 817/900 stamped on the outer rim.
The medallion is in excellent condition and now has a beautiful dark patina finish to the bronze.
It measures 3.5” (9cm) diameter and weighs 268g.
