Commemorative Gilt Bronze Medallion for the Coronation King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra 1902
Here on offer is a large (52mm) commemorative gilt bronze medallion for the coronation King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1902.
On the obverse is the image of the conjoined busts of Their Majesties bare heads facing left.
The engraver's initials “G.F M.B.Ld” are on the right of the King's bust. This relates to George Frampton.
The script around the edge is in Latin and reads as:
EDWARDVS VII REX ET IMP ET ALEXANDRA REG 1902
On the reverse it depicts the Crown on sun in splendour between two trees on which lay the Scottish lion and Irish harp, the English lion above.
Below are the words:
IN COMMEMORATION OF
THE
CORONATION OF KING EDWARD VII
AND
QUEEN ALEXANDRA
1902
The medallion is in excellent condition, still retaining its fine detailing and there are traces of the original gilt remaining.
It measures 2” (5.2cm) diameter and weighs 54g.
