INERT WW1 British No.15 "Cricket" Ball Grenade

Here on offer is an INERT genuine WW1 British No.15 "Cricket" ball grenade, in relic condition.

I believe these were introduced as an emergency hand grenade in May 1915, due to the shortage of Mills grenades.

This type of grenade was used on all WW1 war fronts including the Gallipoli campaign.

They were used as a hand grenade or used with a a catapult or spring gun, as used in trench warfare.

This grenade consists of a spherical cast iron body with a large threaded screw in plug (now rusted in place), which was originally fitted with a No. 8 mark VII detonator secured to a length of safety fuse.

This example is in relic condition, with overall pitting and rust, but is still solid and looks to be a battlefield recovered piece. I believe you can obtain reproduction fuses for these grenades which will make it display really well in any collection.

No license is required to possess this inert grenade in the UK if it is retained as part of a collection or display.

It measures 3” (7.5cm) diameter and weighs 675g.
