Unusual Cased Limited Edition Böker “Masonic” Stockman Knife with Blade by Manfred Sachse c1990

Here on offer is an unusual and rare, limited edition Böker “Masonic” Stockman knife with a beautifully decorated blade by the master blade smith, Manfred Sachse, circa 1990.

It comes in an ebonised wood, hinged case with a black silk lining.

I did try to research this knife but failed to find another example listed or documented anywhere?

Given the secrecy that exists around the Mason’s I imagine any such knives are treasured by each separate lodge and effectively hidden from public view?

Therefore, I contacted the production research team at Böker Baumwerk GmbH, Solingen, in Germany.

They proved to be very helpful and provided the following information:

The knife is a Stockman model, which was produced in co-operation with the Damascus smith Manfred Sachse.

The blade is made of blued carbon stainless steel and the numerous Masonic symbols are elaborately etched in gold on both sides.

The bolsters of the knife are made of polished nickel silver and the handle is made of polished cow shin bone.

The limited edition comprised of 500 pieces.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t determine the exact year of issue, but suspect the date to be between 1990 and 2000.

What I find slightly confusing is the fact this knife has the number 582 stamped on one of the bolsters? Therefore, either Boker have got the limited number of knives wrong, which is doubtful or this may relate to a Masonic Lodge number?

Now a Masonic lodge No.582 still exits and is known as the Khyber Lodge that meets at number 10 Duke Street, St James, London and the lodge was constituted back in the 1850’s.

I have owned this knife for about 20 years and it is in near MINT condition. The only issue I can see, is that the gold letter “e” has rubbed off of the blade at the end of name M.Sache, albeit you can still make out the letter.

This is a great chance to add a very rare and top quality Böker knife to your collection. This knife can only increase in value.

The knife has a blade length of 4” (10.2cm) and a total length, when open, of 9.2” (23.3cm).

It weighs 140g
