WW2 Nepalese Mk II Kukri Knife with Leather Covered Scabbard Dated 1944

Here on offer is a WW2 period Nepalese MKII Kukri knife leather covered scabbard, dated 1944.

The kukri itself has a one-piece hard wood grip with carved grip rings. There is a chip to the pommel edge and an age crack near the metal ferrule.

The 9.75” blade shows some light age pitting and signs of sharpening and still retains a very sharp edge. It has the traditional kaudi notch and three chiselled lines on both sides near the straight top edge.

It is stamped with the year date for 1944 and the letter G, on one side.

44 G

The scabbard has provision for a chakmak and karda knife, which are now missing. The khissa pouch also present.

The brown leather covered wooden scabbard is in remarkably good condition, with some pleasing tooled decoration, complete with sangli loop and buttons. It also has a WW2 period green Kaki webbing strap and buckles tightly wrapped around the body of the scabbard.

This knife has clearly seen service during WW2 and is a fine example of genuine used kukri, if only it could talk!

The blade measures approximately 9.75” (25cm) long and the knife is 14.25” (36.3cm) in total length.

With the scabbard, it weighs 535g.
