Rare Antique Watchmaker’s Box Wood and Agate Stone Pocket Oil Well Pot

Here on offer is a rare 19th century box wood and agate watchmaker's oil well pot.

This fantastic Antique Treen & Agate Oil Pot was used by a Watchmaker in his Watchmaking & Repair business.

The wooden pot has been hand turned and is a beautiful piece of “treenware” in its own right.

The lid does have a slight age crack but that is the only damage I can see.

The lid is marked on the top with the number “60” and inside it has the name: G. MURFIN, who might be the maker or possibly the original owner?

The polished agate stone oil well is centred and recessed into the wooden base and is in excellent condition. The beautiful coloured agate stone has the naturally formed lines often seen in these stones.

This antique boxwood oil pot would be a great addition to a watchmaker business or your antique watchmaker tool & accessory collection.

It measures 1.5” (3.8cm) high and 1.5” (3.8cm) diameter at the base. It weighs 25g.
