Rare 1940’s ‘Spitfire’ Target Tiddly-Winks Game by Berwick’s of Liverpool, England
Here on offer is an original WW2 period version of the classic “Tiddly-Winks” parlour game.
This is the ‘Spitfire’ Target edition, made in England by Berwick’s of Liverpool, circa 1940.
I can only find one other example currently for sale and its being offered at £110!
The game is in great condition and comes with its original Bakelite cup that has BERWICK’S LIVERPOOL in raised letters on the base.
It also still has the four different coloured sets of counters, each consisting of a large “Shooter” counter and five small counters.
The box itself is in excellent order with all corners intact, just the front image is slightly grubby and there are some rub marks to the base.
I believe the rules for this game are as follows:
TARGET TIDLEY-WINKS.
Place the box in the centre of a table covered with a fairly thick cloth.
Each player selects one large "Shooter” counter and the five small counters of the same colour.
Then the players flip the small counters into the box by pressing them sharply on the edge with the “Shooter”.
Counters score according to the numbers shown on the coloured sections and any counter dropping into the cup in the centre counts as 20 points.
A counter that is more on one colour than another scores the number in which its greater area covers.
The player making the highest score is the winner.
This is a rare WW2 period example with great period graphics.
It box measures 5.75” (14.6cm) square by 1.75” (4.4cm) high and weighs 120g.
