99th (1989) Year of the Royal Tournament Medal in Gilt Bronze
Here on offer is a fine example of a 99th year (1989) - Royal Tournament medal in gilt bronze. There is just now an age patina to the gilt finish on the front.
The front depicts the image of all three of the UK armed services, logos, the RAF, Royal Navy and Army.
On the reverse it has the image of the Hippocamp, that was the adopted by the Royal Tournament as their new logo in 1987.
The Hippocamp also represents the Royal Navy, the Army and RAF, being a unique hybrid of a winged horse with the tail of a fish.
The medal measures 1.5” (3.8cm) diameter and weighs 20g.
