WW2 RAF Station Kanchrapara (India) Aluminium Ashtray
Here on offer is an unusual WW2 RAF station Kanchrapara (India) aluminium ashtray.
The WW2 RAF station at Kanchrapara was established in September 1942 and was manned by both British and American air force personnel mainly being used as a reconnaissance location for the 8th Recon Group of the United States Army Airforce.
This aluminium ashtray was most probably a souvenir, made by personnel on the base, to take home after WW2.
It has been engraved to the centre with “RAF” set inside a 5-pointed star, along with the name “KANCHRAPARA” and “INDIA”, around the edge.
The ashtray is in excellent condition, no splits or dents, just some age-related oxidisation to the aluminium finish.
It measures 4.25” (10.8cm) diameter and weighs 25g.
