Full Size Custom Damascus Hunting Knife with a Black Palm Wood Handle by Terry Kranning
Here on offer is a rare opportunity to acquire full-size collector's hunting knife with Damascus blade and black palm wood handle, made by Terry Kranning.
I bought this knife and some miniatures directly from Terry back in 2002.
Sadly, Terry was killed in a climbing accident during the Pocatello Pump rock climbing competition, Idaho, USA, back in 2004.
He was a renowned knife maker, especially miniature knives and was a founder member of the American Miniature Knife Makers Society.
He has positive reviews in Levine’s Guide, Knives ’85 thru 2002’ and in editions of ‘Knives Digest’.
The knife itself has a beautiful Damascus fixed blade made from carbon steel, tempered to Rockwell 55. On one side, at the ricasso, it is stamped with the letters TLK, for Terry Kranning.
The handle is made from black palm wood, which has a stunning black speckled pattern. There is some ornate file work to the steel back spine and the guard and fancy “flower” handle pins are made from polished nickel silver.
Black and yellow spacers have been used to help secure the handle to the guard.
This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain this “unique” example of one of Terry’s rarer full-size knives, that is in mint condition.
The knife has a blade length of 3.6” (9.1cm) and a total length of 7.5” (19.2cm).
It weighs 105g
