Impressive Large King Leopold II Belgian Gilt Bronze Medal – Sleidinge Festival 1894

Here on offer is an impressive Large King Leopold II Belgian gilt bronze medal dated 1894.

This large medal is in excellent condition and retains a large amount of its original gilt finish.

The obverse depicts the portrait of King Leopold II and the reverse has the words:

GEMEENTE
SLEIDINGE
FESTIVAL
1894

Set in the centre of a royal crest surrounded by a laurel, trumpets, drums and flags.
This translates to:

Municipality of Sleidinge Festival 1894.

Sleidinge is a village in the municipalities of Evergem in the province of East Flanders, Belgium.

The circular section of the medal measures 51mm diameter and it weighs 50g.
