Unique Framed Litho Print of a RAF Hawk T.1A ‘XX205’ from 92 Squadron, RAF Chivenor, Signed by Members of the Squadron c1992

Here on offer is a unique framed litho print of a RAF B.A.E. Hawk T.1A ‘XX205’ from 92 Squadron signed by members of the squadron, circa 1992.

Probably as part of a training course that used that aircraft, various pilots from the Squadron have signed the print, in ink and pencil. Some of the comments have faded over time and a couple below the aircraft can’t be read anymore.

The print is by the renowned military artist ‘L. Tuckfield’ and was produced by ‘Art of Travel' in 1992.

Some information about Hawks at RAF Chivenor, Devon, England.

In 1979 the RAF rebuilding programme ended and the station was reactivated, hosting 2 TWU, flying British Aerospace Hawk T1's with No. 63 Squadron RAF (63(R))23 and No. 151 Squadron RAF (151(R)) squadrons, training fast jet pilots and navigators. In 1992, the government's options for change defence review resulted in the structure of the station changing with 2 TWU being re-designated as No. 7 Flying Training School RAF (7 FTS), the squadrons changing identities from 63(R) and 151(R) to No. 19 Squadron RAF (19(R)) and No. 92 Squadron RAF (92(R)). 7 FTS operated in conjunction with No. 4 Flying Training School RAF (4 FTS) at RAF Valley, as the so-called Mirror Image Training Course which lasted for three years until 1995 when the Ministry of Defence (MOD) announced that RAF Chivenor would close, which it did on 1 October 1995.

Number 92 Squadron, also known as No. 92 (East India) Squadron and currently as No. 92 Tactics and Training Squadron.
Disbanded in July 1991, the Squadron was reformed as No. 92 (Reserve) Squadron at RAF Chivenor flying the British Aerospace Hawk until October 1994.

The glazed frame measures 21.9” (55.5cm) by 17.9” (45.5cm) and it has a grey card inner mount.

It weighs a heavy 2Kg and will be carefully wrapped.

Please note I am happy to remove the print from the frame to save on postage if so requested by the purchaser.

A great piece of unique vintage RAF memorabilia!
