Rare Large WW2 German Alphabetical Indexed Expanding Document Filing Folder
Here on offer is a very rare large WW2 German alphabetical indexed expanding document filing folder.
The front and back covers are made of a thick cardboard, covered in a marble effect paper. The front is embossed with a beautiful German Wehrmacht eagle.
The folders spine is made from a canvas covered cardboard and inside the multiple document slots (roughly A4 in size) are made from a thin but strong brown card with expanding edges.
Each slot has an individual alphabetical letter associated with it, up to the letter N, they then change to O-P, Q-R, S, Sch, St, T-V and W-Z.
It is in excellent usable condition with some wear mainly to the edges and slight loss of gilt to the eagle.
I have never seen another example like this and can’t find any examples that have survived. Its really a museum quality item and makes a really impressive display piece.
It measures 13.7” (34.8cm) by 11.5” (29.2cm) and each of the document slots is 10.8” (27.5cm) by 9.5” (24.2cm).
It weighs a heavy 1.5Kg.
