Rare WW1 British Officers Webley Revolver Holster with Unusual Leather Backing Plate

Here on offer is a rare and possibly unique WW1 British Officers Webley revolver holster with the addition of an unusual leather backing plate.

This appears to be a standard WW1 British Officers Webley revolver holster that has the addition of a leather backing plate, properly sewn onto the holster.

This would provide additional comfort and protect the uniform from scuffing.

I have never seen this type of modification and can’t find another example to reference.

The piece comes in excellent used condition with some signs of use to the leather and a tiny puncture near the edge of the top flap. Also the small oval leather section that would normally be stitched to the very bottom of the holster is missing.

It measures approximately 13.5” (57.8cm) point to point and weighs 285g.
