Antique Brass AA Car Membership Badge c1911 – 1925
Here on offer is a great example of an antique solid brass AA Car Membership Badge dating back to between 1911 and 1925.
My understanding is that after amalgamation with the Motor Union, a combined badge was designed in 1911 incorporating the M and wings from the body's emblem with the intertwined AA. It was the standard pattern for the next half century, varying only in size, type of metal and method of fixing.
This badge has the membership number 544158 stamped onto the front and the following on the reverse:
PROPERTY
OF THE
AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
FANUM: HOUSE
NEW COVENTRY ST W.1
THIS BADGE
MUST
BE RETURNED WHEN
MEMBERSHIP CEASES
The badge is in excellent condition with just some slight age patina to the finish, mainly on the reverse.
It measures 5.75” (14.6cm) high by 3.75” (9.5cm) and weighs 148g.
