Stunning Art Deco 18ct Gold ROLEX Slim Line Cased - Open Faced Pocket Watch circa 1925

Here on offer is a stunning Art Deco 18ct gold genuine ROLEX slim-line cased, open-faced pocket watch, circa mid 1920’s.

The watch is stem wound set and has a good spring and balance. It is working and keeping good time, but has not been cleaned or serviced and so is sold with no warranty.

The domed mineral watch glass is in perfect condition.

It has a MINT 40mm dial face of a silvered guilloche sunburst design. The dial is signed “ROLEX, SWISS MADE” and has a distributers name:

J. GRASON & SONS
LEAMINGTON

It has black Roman numerals, blued “fleur de lys” hands, a subsidiary seconds register and “chemin de fer” chapter ring.

The movement is I believe, a 3-finger bridge movement with a lever escapement. The movement is signed “ROLEX, 15 JEWELS, SWISS MADE, TIMED 3 POSITIONS FOR ALL CLIMATES” and it is stamped with a Rolex serial number 751242, under the balance wheel.

The solid 18ct gold slim-line case is by Rolex, and is 44mm diameter and about 5.5mm thick.

On the reverse cover it has been professionally engraved with the letters J.R.P. and a date 4.7.29, possibly the owners initials and birthday?
There is a tiny dent to the edge in the 5 o’clock position.

Inside the rear cover it is marked with the details:

ROLEX, 7 WORLD’S RECORDS, GOLD MEDAL GENEVA-SUISSE

Then it has the Glasgow import mark (double inverted “F”s) and the date letter “C” for the year 1925.

Below this is the stamp for 18ct gold, 18 .75, RWC Ltd in an oval and the case serial number 1000104.

There are also a few jewellers servicing references scratched into the cover.

The gold watch frame is also stamped with the number 40 and 18 .75 for 18ct gold, as is the D shaped pendant bow at the top.

The watch measures 44mm diameter and weighs 45g.

This watch is in mint condition apart from the tiny edge dent to the rear cover.
