Unusual WW1-2 Period Brass Fire Brigade Cap Badge?
Here on offer is an unusual finely detailed brass Fire Brigade cap badge?
I can’t find another example like this badge, which I believe is either a WW1 or WW2 period example, given the canvas material that is still attached to the back?
It has a similar format to an early British Rail cap badge, but they all seem to have the words, British Rail?
Any information someone may have about this badge would be gratefully received.
The badge itself is a finely detailed piece, with a helmet and crossed axes set in the centre of a starburst. It is made from a two-piece construction with the helmet being pinned to the starburst from the back.
The rear lugs are bent over, holding the badge in place on the canvas cloth.
It is in original untouched/uncleaned condition and measures 1.75” (4.4cm) diameter.
It weighs 18g.
