Post WW2 Luftwaffe Honour Award Plaque to an “Oberfeldwebel” Ludwig Heilmann

Here on offer is a Luftwaffe Desk Mounted Honour Plaque to an “Oberfeldwebel” Ludwig Heilmann, that I feel is a post war copy?

Although the plaque itself shows signs of age to the aluminium front and green felt backing, I am not happy with the quality of the Luftwaffe eagle? It has a detailed front but has been cut out of a solid piece of aluminium, which I have never seen before?

The rectangular aluminium plaque itself has been pinned to a dark oak base and even the pins show signs of age.

The engraving has been done professionally and roughly translates to:

Oberfeldwebel
Ludwig Heilmann
For Excellent Performance
The Commanding General and Commander in Luftgau XI
General of the Airman

It also is shows the facsimile signature of a Luftwaffe General.

Having said all that I have noticed that the American dealer, eMedals has sold a similar example (item: G44344) for $401!

However I am still listing it as a Post WW2 example, probably made for a solider to take home as a trophy after WW2 ended.

It does make an impressive display piece and has been priced accordingly.

If I am wrong, then someone will get a real deal!

The plaque measures 6.25” (16cm) by 4.75” (12.1cm) and weighs 222g.
