Parker-Hale Cased Set of TEN Smith & Wesson, First Production Run, Scrimshaw Knives

Here on offer is a wonderful collector’s set of TEN Smith & Wesson, First Production Run Scrimshaw knives, distributed in a plush display case by Parker-Hale.

Each of the knives has a 2.7” (6.7cm) stainless steel blade that is stamped with the name Smith & Wesson on the ricasso and has the full details marked on the front of the blade:

The grip is made up of two slabs of black plastic material, which have a fitted cream coloured section set into the front.

Each of the TEN blades displays a different scrimshaw scene that relates to nature.

Eight have a signature of Pam Essex and two are by L Layden.

The knives fit very securely into a dark green velvet lined hinged case that has a burgundy leatherette covering, with the name:

Set in gold lettering on the front, as well as inside the lid.

Parker-Hale ceased trading in 1992 and I believe these knives where produced on the mid 1980’s.

Each folding knife has a blade length of 2.7” (6.7cm) and is 6” (15.3cm) long when fully open.

The cased set weighs 1.3kg.

This is a rare and unusual set that was retailed by Parker-Hale and I can’t find another such example?
