Beautiful Seven-String Silver & Enamel Victorian Period French Albertina Pocket Watch Chain

Here on offer is a beautiful seven-string silver and enamel Victorian period Albertina pocket watch chain, which I believe was made in France. There are four herringbone and three thicker square section chains that glide through the rectangular slider.

It has a detailed raised image of an early steam ship on the front of the slider and an engraved anchor on the reverse.

At one end it has a thick circular chain ending with a T-bar. The final ring has the word “GARANTIE” in raised letters, which is French for guarantee.

The other end is fitted with a clasp that has what looks to be a French silver mark stamped on the edge. It is hard to make out what it is, but could be a boar or dogs head? I have tested a chain and it seems to be 800 grade silver as used in Europe.

It has been made to always hang with a slight curve to the chains, as the top chains are slightly shorter than the lower ones, as shown in my photos.

It is in excellent condition with no loss of enamel or damage to the chains.


Stretched out, it measures approximately 10.75” (27.5cm) long from the T-bar to the tip of the clasp.

It weighs 50g.
