Vintage Orange Marbled Effect Cigarette Holder, Ashtray and Lighter in the form of a Street Food/Ice Cream Cart by BAIER of Germany

Here on offer is a rare example of vintage orange marbled effect cigarette holder, ashtray and lighter in the form of a street food/ice cream cart from the 1950’s.

This is a BAIER Ges-Gesch, German made smoking trolley/cart featuring storage for 20 cigarettes (10 each side), petrol lighter and an ashtray.

The paint finish is orange faux marble, with a silver top and sides and trimmed out in chrome. There are some signs of paint chips, mainly to the top edges.

On the base it is stamped with A142 G on the frame.

There is also a sliding Bakelite sheet that can be removed to empty the ashtray and access the screws for the lighter. This sheet is marked with the maker BAIER, Ges-Gesch, meaning patented or registered and MADE IN GERMANY.

Each side opens with a metal knob to reveal the 2 x 10 cigarette storage areas.

The top flips open to reveal the ashtray and cigarette rest.

There is a push button on one side that activates the petrol lighter, that still works, but is empty of fuel and the flint to meet shipping rules.

It has rubber swivel tires on the base, reminiscent of an ice cream cart, which have some flat surfaces where I guess it has been stored with something heavy on top of it?

It measures 5.2” (13cm) wide by 3.8” (10cm) high and 3” (7.5cm) deep.

It weighs a heavy 660g.
