Fine Pair of Commemorative Glass Goblets that Relate to The Royal Hampshire Regiment Formation in 1881
Here on offer is a fine pair of commemorative glass goblets that relate to the Royal Hampshire Regiment forming in 1881, with the merging of the 37th and 67th regiments.
The front of each goblet depicts the Royal Hampshire Regiments emblem with the addition of the numbers 37 and 67 shown in Roman numerals.
The 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in Ireland in February 1702. Under the Childers Reforms it amalgamated with the 67th Regiment of Foot to become the Hampshire Regiment in 1881.
I cannot find any reference to these goblets being made, but they where possibly made back in 1981 to commemorate a 100 years since the formation of the Royal Hampshire Regiment?
They each measures 5.3” (13.5cm) high and are 3” (7.6cm) diameter at the top.
The each weigh 280g.
The goblets are in excellent condition. One has a very slight scratch mark near the ribbon of the emblem but that is the only mark I can see.
