Antique Facon Gaucho Fighting Knife by TORO of Solingen

Here on offer is a truly fine quality antique German made ‘Facon’ Gaucho style fighting knife with its black leather sheath.

The grip on this knife is just superb! It has been hand carved from a natural material with a twisted pattern and has a slightly domed pommel of the same fine material.

There is a nickel silver collar that fits against the elongated oval, nickel pated crossguard. The tips of the crossguard turn up slightly at the tips and it shows signs of some slight plating loss.

The bright nickel-plated blade has a single cutting edge with a clipped back top section.
There are fuller groves on both sides and on onside of the large ricasso it is stamped with the German maker’s details:

SOLINGEN

I can’t find out any details of this maker from any of my reference material, so if anybody has any further details about TORO, please drop me an email. It would be greatly appreciated.

The blade is in near mint condition with just the slightest plating loss to the very tip and it does show some light surface scratches on one side.

The sheath is in near mint condition and the main body is made from stitched strong black leather. The plain upper and lower fittings look to be made from nickel silver and are held in place by strong staples. The upper fitting still has the raised belt clip.

The blade measures 8.25” (21cm) and the dagger in the scabbard measures a total of 14” (35.5cm) long.

It weighs 230g.
