Scottish Silver-Plated Lucky Grouse Foot Brooch set with an Amethyst Stone - Ward Brothers Glasgow
Here on offer is a vintage Scottish silver-plated lucky grouse foot brooch, set with a large amethyst stone.
The base of the brooch is decorated with a deer's head and set with a deeply coloured amethyst stone.
The supporting frame under the foot is stamped in a diamond mark with the maker’s mark, “WBs” for Ward Brothers of Glasgow. The company WBS ceased to exist in 1970 and their products now have a collector's value.
It is fitted with a long pin and locking “C” clip, that are in full working order.
A grouse foot is considered a talisman and brings good luck!
It measures 2.75” (7cm) long and weighs 10g.
It is in great original condition, no damage to the foot that I can see. It has some tiny nibbles to the top edge of the stone when viewed with a loop.
Please see my pictures for the details of the condition, which complement this description.
