Cold War Period Romanian Army Officers Dress Dagger - Early Serial No. 0913 Circa 1965

Here on offer is an untouched example of a very early Socialist Romanian Army Officers Dress Dagger that has a very low serial number, “0913” and dates to the mid 1960’s.

All the metal fittings are made from gilt brass that still retains some of the protective lacquer. Overall it shows signs of loss to the gilt finish, but this could be polished to a bright finish if preferred.

It has a domed gilt brass pommel and the ferrule has a release button on the reverse. The shaped grip appears to be made from a light marble effect plastic, very much like “Lucite”. The smoothly finished quillion turns upward at one end and downward at the other.

It has a near mint condition bright chrome-plated plain steel blade with a double-edged diamond cross-section. The very low serial number “0913”, is stamped on the reverse ricasso.

The thin brown leather blade/scabbard washer is still intact.

The ornate scabbard displays the Socialist Republic (1965-1989) Coat-of-Arms inside a ribbed frame on both sides. The two bands display oak leaves and acorns and both dagger hanger rings are in place.

The two scabbard throat screws are still in place and there are no splits or dents to the scabbard itself.

The blade measures 8.25” (21cm) long and the dagger is 12.1” (30.7cm) in total length.

It weighs 240g.
