Early WW2 German Army Third Reich Marksmanship Silver Bullion Lanyard

Here on offer is an excellent example of a genuine early WW2 German Army Third Reich Marksmanship Lanyard.

This initial 1st grade was awarded to German Army marksmen. It was given in 12 different grades, which would be recognized by the addition of swords to the shield, changes in colour, addition of acorns to the end of the lanyard and other variations.

The award was worn with dress and field uniforms. When worn with the dress uniform the lanyard would go from the right shoulder strap to the second button on the tunic.

The main section consists of a braided silver bullion platted rope and is fitted at the top with an oval plaque mounted with a white metal Wehrmacht Shield, with Eagle and Swastika.
There is some slight wear to the oval bullion plaque where it attaches to the rope section and it appers to be missing the small bullion ball that would tighten the loop at the top.

It still retains the grey felt to reverse of the shield and just shows some rubbing marks to the bullion where it was attached to a uniform.

It measures 16” (40.5cm) long and weighs 35g.
