Antique Black Forest Carved Wood Extendable Book Rack

Here on offer is an impressive antique Black Forest carved wood (possibly tulip wood) extending book rack with fruit baskets, with apples, berries and grapes surrounded with detailed pointed leaves.

It was carved in Switzerland back in the 19th century and is in excellent original condition with a nice patina finish to the wood.

The only damage I can see are four of the pointed leaves on the bookends that have their tips missing. Please see my photos.

It features a base and two side panels decorated with acorn and oak leaf patterns.

The extending/sliding book shelf can be adjusted to increase the number of books it can hold. Each end of the bookend has a hinge and can be easily folded up and down.

It measures 15.5” (39.4cm) long when closed and 25.5” (64.7cm) when fully extended. The base is 5.4” (13.7cm) wide and it weighs 600g.
