Antique Black Forest Wooden Pocket Watch Holder circa 1880

Here on offer is a fine example of an antique black forest wooden pocket watch holder, circa 1880. The hinged cover has been hand carved in high relief with a leaf and berry design.

The sides of the main section have also been beautifully carved with a ribbed pattern.

The lid hinges open and forms a rest so that the watch can be seated in the holder and the watch face viewed on a desk or bedside table.

Inside there is the aperture for a pocket watch that measures 2" (5.1cm) diameter by 0.7" (1.7cm) deep.

The watch holder is in excellent condition with just the smallest hole in the side of the main section, where the carver has just worked the carving too close to the internal aperture.

The watch holder measures 2.5” (6.4cm) wide and 3.75” (9.5cm) high.

It weighs 50g.
