Rare Large WW2 Royal Canadian Air Force RCAF Perspex “Heart” Sweetheart Brooch
Here on offer is a rare hand made example of a WW2 Royal Canadian Air Force RCAF heart shaped thick perspex sweetheart brooch, which has a tiny metal and enamelled RCAF emblem set in the centre.
These types of sweetheart brooch’s where made from the Perspex canopies/windows of damaged/crashed WW2 aircraft.
This clear Perspex “heart” is unusually THICK and probably came from a downed bomber?
The tiny RCAF emblem displays the Kings Crown and is in excellent condition, with no loss of enamel.
There are a couple of light scratches to the front of the Perspex heart, which might polish out.
On the reverse it still has its original long pin and “C” clasp.
The brooch is 1.6” (4cm) wide, 1.75” (4.5cm) high and 0.4” (0.9cm) thick.
It weighs 10.7g.
