Reproduction Post WW2 Hitler Youth Knife by OTHELLO - G.C. & Co. 420

Here on offer is what I belief is a vintage REPRODUCTION Hitler Youth Knife with a plain blade, made by OTHELLO, Solingen, Germany.

Following the end of WW2, Germany had thousands of unassembled youth daggers and still had the moulds and machinery to make more.

Since this knife was already used by Hitler youth it was easy to replace the HJ Nazi Diamond symbol with the Boy Scout emblem and keep producing them.

I believe this knife was one of those "repro HJ Knives" that was produced in the post war period, probably as a tourist or GI bring back item that went on even as late as the 1970’s.


It still is a great knife and shows signs of being used during its knife


The nickel-plated hilt fittings are in excellent condition with just some loss of plating on the top edge.

The black Bakelite grip plates look to be possibly genuine and are in excellent condition and are still held in place by the two-nickel rivets.

The repro HJ diamond emblem retains its enamel finish and fits tightly into the grip.

The plain blade is in good condition with just some slight pitting on both sides, with signs of sharpening to the cutting edge.

It has a stepped ricasso and on one side is the head of Othello maker’s logo, with underneath, the words:

OTHELLO
SOLINGEN
GERMANY

The leather buffer pad is still in place, but one section is missing..

The black painted scabbard is dent free but shows some signs of paint loss.

The original leather belt loop hanger and fastening strap and stud are still in place and in excellent condition.
On the reverse of the back strap you can make out the stamped words:

MADE IN GERMANY

The blade measures 5.5” (14cm) long and the knife is 9.6” (24.5cm) in total length.

It weighs 265g.
