Beautiful English Silver Topped Cut Glass Oil Decanter by John Grinsell & Sons c1914

Here on offer is an exquisite antique English hallmarked silver topped cut glass oil decanter by John Grinsell & Sons dated 1914.

This beautiful shaped small cut glass oil decanter has been professionally wheel cut to form criss-crossed patterns on both sides of the circular shaped bottle.

The lipped spout is made from silver and has a clear set of English silver hallmarks, the Lion Passant for English silver (925), an Anchor for the assay office of Birmingham and the date letter “P” for the year 1914.

There is also a maker’s mark, J G & S, which stands for John Grinsell & Sons of Birmingham, England.

It still retains its original cut glass tight fitting stopper, which is in perfect condition.

The decanter is in near mint condition and I can only find a tiny knick to the glass to one side, which is less than the size of a pinpoint!

It measures 3.5” (9cm) high (with the stopper) and 2.75” (7cm) diameter.

It weighs 250g.
