Genuine WW2 RAF Padded Cloth Pilots Wings Badge
Here on offer is a genuine WW2 RAF padded cloth Pilots Wings badge.
It is made of a padded embroidered pair of outstretched wings supporting a central laurel wreath encircling the RAF monogram with a King’s crown, the wings, monogram and crown in cream and the wreath in brown, all on a black fabric set on a cream backing cloth.
The Wings are in excellent condition, with no moth damage.
The pilot’s wings badge has been in use since 1912 with the formation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC). This pattern has been in use since 1920 with variations in the crown. The badge was worn above the left tunic pocket.
The badge measures 4.5” (11.4cm) wide.
