Antique Edwardian Hallmarked English Silver Fronted Clock Tower Pocket Watch Stand c1904

Here on offer is a top quality antique Edwardian hallmarked English silver pocket watch stand dated to 1903/04.

This beautiful silver fronted pocket watch stand is in the form of a clock tower and is finished with a detailed scrolled design.

On the front edge it has a clear set of English silver hallmarks, the Lion Passant for English silver (925), an Anchor for the assay office of Birmingham and the date letter “e” for the year 1904.

It also displays an Rd number 396813, which also dates it to around 1903/4.

There is also a maker’s mark but the letters are rubbed and I can only make out a possible H.L at the end of the three letters.

The clock tower cover opens at the back to insert a pocket watch but it will only take a thin type of pocket watch up to about two inches in diameter.
Inside the opening it is lined with a rich blue silk lining and the front “glass” is actually an early from of plastic, with some slight age yellowing to its finish, commiserate with its age.

The piece comes in excellent order for its age but there are a few light dings to the silver finish on the front.

It measures 4.25” (10.8cm) high and 3.75” (9.5cm) wide at its base.

It weighs 152g.
