Beautiful Collector’s Folding Knife By Weidmannsheil with a Rose Pattern Damascus Blade & Mother of Pearl Grip Plates
Here on offer is a truly beautiful example of a Weidmannsheil collector’s folding lock-back knife, with a rose pattern Damascus blade and Mother of Pearl grip plates.
I believe that these Weidmannsheil knives were made in the late 1990’s after the late Jim Parker bought the old Weltersbach factory in Germany, along with the Weidmannsheil name.
They were made in Solingen, Germany by Hartkopf using Markus Balbach pattern-welded Damascus steel.
Markus Balbach is known a well-known producer of high quality carbon based steels. Some of which have been made from exotic, proprietary German steels, such as tank gun barrels, meteorites etc.
I have been told that nearly all the Weidmannsheil knives were limited to 50 or 100 of each style.
This knife features a 3.25” Rose pattern Damascus steel single edged blade, a blade locking device, plain nickel silver bolsters, brass liners and two perfect Mother of Pearl grip plates.
On the front tang it is stamped with the words:
WEIDMANNSHEIL
SOLINGEN
GERMANY
and the Boars head logo
On the reverse tang it is stamped with:
GENUINE
DAMASCUS
This is a just a stunning knife that has been in my collection for over 30 years and is in mint condition.
The knife has an approximate blade length of 3.25” (8.2cm) and a fully opened length of 6.9” (17.5cm).
It weighs 110g.
