Framed Victorian Period Sweetheart Pincushion with a Floral Design

Here on offer is a pretty example of a Victorian period sweetheart pincushion that’s been fitted into a glass fronted, gilt wooden framed cardboard display case.

This pincushion has been set on the front with a beautiful display of flower heads made from clusters of clear and coloured glass beads.

Around the edge it has been finished with a stunning blue glass bead edging.

This beautiful pincushion was probably made by injured and recovering soldiers from wars during Queen Victoria’s reign.

They where mostly sent home to a sweetheart or family member.

This example is in excellent condition with no apparent loss of colour to the base cloth.

The pincushion has been surrounded by a large number of silk and paper flowers along with real poppy seed heads.

I can’t actually tell how old the lovely display case is, but looks to be a later period piece.

This is just a fine example of one of these pincushions, in really excellent condition that will make a great addition to any antique collection.

The pincushion measures approximately 6” (15.3cm) wide by 5.25” (13.4cm) high and the case is 9.4” (24cm) wide by 7.2” (18cm) high and 2.2” (5.5cm) deep.

It weighs 535g.
