Framed Victorian Period Sweetheart Pincushion – “THINK OF ME”

Here on offer is a lovely example of a Victorian period sweetheart pincushion that’s been fitted into a glass fronted wooden display case.

This stunning star shaped pincushion has been set in the centre with the words:

THINK OF ME

made from tiny white glass beads.

Around the words is a thin red boarder of beads that form the centre of a beautiful eight pronged star made from a mass of clear glass beads.

Coloured beads then form a circular pattern that sit within the gaps in the star.

This beautiful pincushion was probably made by injured and recovering soldiers from wars during Queen Victoria’s reign.

They where mostly sent home to a sweetheart or family member.

This example is in excellent condition with no apparent loss of colour to the velvet red base cloth.

The pincushion has been surrounded by silk flowers and what look to be four large cream silk roses, inside the display case.

I can’t actually tell how old the lovely display case is, but looks to be a Victorian period piece.

This is just a stunning example of one of these pincushions, in really excellent condition that will make a great addition to any antique collection.

The pincushion measures approximately 6” (15.3cm) round and the case is 9.25” (23.5cm) square and 2.5” (6.4cm) deep.

It weighs 935g.
