Framed Victorian Period Sweetheart Pincushion – “Home Sweet Home”
Here on offer is a lovely example of a Victorian period sweetheart pincushion that’s been fitted into a glass fronted cardboard display case.
This sweet pincushion has been set in the centre with the words:
HOME SWEET HOME
made from tiny domed metal pins.
Around the outer edges is an ornate swirling pattern made from clear and coloured glass beads.
This lovely pincushion was probably made by injured and recovering soldiers from wars during Queen Victoria’s reign.
They where mostly sent home to a sweetheart or family member.
This example is in excellent condition with no apparent loss of colour to the velvet green cloth.
The lid of the case lifts of to allow you easy access to the pincushion itself.
I can’t actually tell how old the lovely red silk lined display case is, but looks to be a Victorian period piece.
This is just a beautiful example of one of these pincushions, in really excellent condition that will make a great addition to any antique collection.
The pincushion measures approximately 4.5” (11.4cm) by 3.5” (9cm) and the case is 7.4” (18.7cm) by 5.25” (13.3cm) and 3.5” (8.8cm) deep.
It weighs 505g.
