Beautiful Victorian Boer War Period Projectile Shaped Table Lighter

Here on offer is a beautiful Victorian Boer War period ‘warhead’ or ‘projectile’ shaped petrol table lighter.

This lighter actually came in a Boer War POW carved wooden box, along with a revolver holster and other POW trench art.

To me the lighter looks to have been professionally made, possible by a jeweller and doesn’t appear to be what I would class as POW Trench Art? I could of course be wrong!

Who ever made it clearly had excellent engineering skills, in order to produce such a quality piece.

The main Warhead section appears to be made from chrome plated brass and has a fine thread in the centre, to which the conical top screws onto.

The lower section has two beautifully engraved initials on the side, which appear to be ‘J T’.

The whole Warhead section has then been securely fitted to an ornate and heavy solid brass base.

With the top section removed you can see the flint wheel and exposed wick.

The flint wheel section just pulls out to allow the fuel reservoir to be filled up.

The flint section has a screw at the bottom that once removed you can tap out the spring that holds the flint against the knurled wheel.
The table lighter is in perfect overall condition and makes a really impressive display piece in its own right.

To comply with postage rulings, the lighter will be shipped without a flint or any lighter fuel inside.

It measures 6” (15.3cm) high and 2.6” (6.8cm) diameter at the base.

It weighs a heavy 475g.
