Cased Queen Elizabeth II - Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to D.G. DANIEL – Royal Navy
Here on offer is a very fine example of a genuine Queen Elizabeth II version (post 1952) of a Long Service and Good Conduct medal, awarded to D G Daniel, a Petty Officer Writer in the Royal Navy.
Writers were primarily clerical, being responsible for legal, pay, welfare and career issues for a crew. When a Royal Navy ship went into action, they could also be utilised with damage control parties for instance, passing vital information to combat floods and fires.
The medal still retains its original blue and white stripped ribbon and fixing pin to the reverse of the ribbon.
It also comes with its original dark brown leatherette covered hinged case, with a blue velvet and white silk lined interior.
The medal edge is engraved with the following details:
POWTR D G DANIEL D092531B
The medal itself is in very fine condition and retains a slight aged patina finish to the silver, which could be cleaned to a bright finish, if so required. (Please see my photos)
This example has the narrow (37mm) swivel suspender bar.
This is a fine example of this type of medal and it warrants further research into his Royal Navy service number, D092531B.
The medal measures approximately 1.4” (36mm) diameter and with the case, weighs 90g.
