Solid Brass Nautical ‘BRITAINS PRIDE’ Sailor Figure Doorstop – Ships Wheel
Here on offer is an excellent example of a solid brass nautical, ‘BRITAINS PRIDE’ sailor figure doorstop.
It is difficult to age but the casting looks to be old and I know of others that show a Registered Design number 320316, which dates to 1898.
The Sailor is posed leaning on a ships wheel, clutching his cutlass in its scabbard.
Across the plinth bottom it says:
BRITAINS PRIDE
This example is in beautiful polished condition and is a collectable piece of brass that can still be used as a doorstop today.
It measures 11” (28cm) high and 5.25” (13.3cm) wide at the base.
It does weigh a heavy 1.2Kg.
