Vintage Hallmarked Silver MacKenzie Seaforth Highlanders Kilt Pin Brooch 1936 by F. Narbourgh - Birmingham
Here on offer is a fine example of a Vintage Hallmarked Silver MacKenzie Seaforth Highlanders Clan kilt pin or brooch, by F. Narbourgh, Birmingham, dating to 1936.
The front of the pin shows the raised stags head fitted to a belt and buckle with the motto:
GUIDICH ANRICH
Translates to "Help to the King"
On the reverse is the original fixing pin and “C” clasp, along with a full set of English hallmarks and a maker’s mark.
The slightly worn hallmarks show the Lion passant for 925 grade silver, the Anchor meaning it was assayed in Birmingham and a date letter “M” for the year 1936.
The maker mark is:
F.N
I believe F.N refers to F Narborough of Green Street, Doriton, Birmingham. They were known for making, brooches, kilt pins, caddy spoons, medal fobs, etc.
The pin is in excellent condition and is not often found to be made from solid silver, most are made from pewter.
The pin measures 2” (5cm) by 1.4” (3.6cm) and weighs 16g.
