Framed Victorian Period Rectangular-Shaped Sweetheart Pincushion with the emblem for the 7th (Queen’s Own) Hussars

Here on offer is a beautiful example of a Victorian period rectangular-shaped sweetheart pincushion with the emblem for the 7th (Queen’s Own) Hussars that’s been cased in a glass fronted wooden display case.

In the centre of the cushion is a paper colour printed image of the 7th Hussars emblem.

Below the emblem the word:

LOVE

have been made up from small bright red beads.

Also at either end there are paper printed images of what looks to be a 7th Hussars hat/cap below which are the words:

HOLSTER CAP 1751

This impressive rectangular shaped pincushion was probably made by injured and recovering soldiers from wars during Queen Victoria’s reign.

They where mostly sent home to a sweetheart or family member.

This example is in excellent condition and I have left the sealed display case unopened to avoid damaging the decorative lace display that has been set around the edges of the heart.

The pincushion looks to be made from coloured silks fabrics on the top that show signs of fading and these have been embellished with lots of clear and colourful pinned on beads along with gilt and coloured threads. The edge is trimmed with a lace tassel ribbon.

I can’t actually tell how old the lovely wooden display case is, but looks to be a later period piece.

This is just a beautiful example of one of these larger pincushions, in excellent condition that will make a great addition to any military collection.

The cushion measures approximately 7.5” (19cm) square by 5.25” (13.3cm) and the case is 12.6” (32cm) by 10.75” (27.2cm) and 4.5” (11.4cm) deep.
It weighs a heavy 1.75Kg.
