Customised Bowie Knife with Stag Antler Grip and Leather Sheath – by FAGAN

Here on offer is a fine example of custom made vintage clip point Bowie Knife with a beautiful stag antler grip and brown leather sheath, circa 1950.

The custom made grip is made from a beautiful solid piece of “forked” stag antler that fits the hand perfectly.

Two slices of horn have been shaped to form the tight fit of the grip to the blade tang and brass finger guard.

The excellent quality steel blade has a clip point edge and I believe has been taken from a normal FAGAN Bowie knife that where produced back in the post WW2 years.

The blade is in great used condition and retains a sharp cutting edge with no nicks and has some overall greying and scratch marks to the finish.

On one side of the ricasso is stamped:

FOREIGN
FAGAN
MAKE

I believe that these blades where made in Germany just after WW2 for W.H. FAGAN & Son of Sheffield England.
Due at that time to the sensitivity of things marked with MADE IN GERMANY at the time, these blades where just marked as FOREIGN.

The sheath has been made hand from a tan coloured leather that has been stitched together with thick twin.

This is a great example of a customised knife that has been professionally enhanced and is more than likely over 70 year old!

The blade measures 4.9” (12.3cm) long and the knife itself is a total of 11.76” (30cm) long.

It weighs 140g.
