Large Vintage English Clip Point Bowie Knife with Stag Horn Grip – VENTURE –Sheffield England

Here on offer is a MINT example of very large vintage clip point Bowie Knife with a beautiful stag horn grip and black leather sheath, circa 1960.

The grip is made from a beautiful solid piece of stag horn that has been shaped to fit the hand perfectly.
Each end of the grip has tapered leather, brass and coloured Bakelite spacers that are all held tightly in place with a polished aluminium pommel, secured by a recessed nut.

The finger guard is made from solid brass and is held tightly in place.

The large polished chrome finish steel blade is just mint and clearly has never been used. If I am being really picky there are a couple of the tiniest pin prick sized grey dots on the blade which I am sure would just polish out if so required.

On one side of the ricasso is stamped:

SHEFFIELD
ENGLAND

And on the other side the word:

VENTURE

Which I think is the style on name of the knife as I can’t find a maker with that name?

The sheath is made from a thick black leather that has a slight stipple finish to the front and an almost suede finish to the back. Gold coloured rivets hold the sheath together and the retaining strap and press button are in perfect condition.

This knife is in MINT condition and almost impossible to find like that these days, for what is most likely a 60year old knife!

The blade measures 8” (20.2cm) long and the knife itself is a total of 13” (33cm) long.

It weighs a heavy 417g.
